Getting started
Installation
What to install, what to run, and what a working checkout looks like before you change anything.
You need Node 22.13 or later, pnpm, Python 3.12 and Docker. Everything else is installed by the commands below.
Clone and install
git clone https://github.com/your-org/your-product.git
cd your-product
pnpm install
pnpm install sets up every workspace at once — the web app, the marketing
site, the shared packages and the tooling. The backend’s Python dependencies
are installed separately, inside its own virtual environment:
cd backend
python -m venv .venv
. .venv/bin/activate
pip install -e ".[dev]"
Bring up the services
Postgres, Redis and the object store run in Docker. Nothing else needs to:
docker compose up -d
make migrate
make seed
make seed creates the demo organization and the plan catalogue. It is
idempotent, so running it twice is safe and running it against a database that
already has data will not duplicate anything.
Check it worked
pnpm dev
The web app comes up on https://localhost, the API docs on
https://localhost/docs, and this marketing site — if the marketing module
is enabled — on http://localhost:4321. If the first of those loads and lets
you sign in with the seeded account, the checkout is working and you can start
changing things.
If it does not, the most common cause is the certificate: the local stack uses Caddy’s internal certificate authority, and your browser has to be told once that it trusts it.
